Retrieving Lost Data

Postby paulicox on Thu Sep 10, 2009 9:20 pm

I'm using an iPhone 3g. It began crashing and I was advised by an apple tech to back up the phone and restore it and then reload my apps. In doing so, I mistakenly had not correctly backed up my apps and they were all deleted. The backup file of my iphone did not contain any apps.

I had projects in iPunchclock which I had not exported before the phone started crashing and which I could not access once these problems started. Is there any way to retrieve these files/info? Is there a way to access iPunch clock files from a computer?

Great app btw...

Thanks,
Paul

I'm not sure if you could use 'Jailbreak' to get access to files hidden by the normal iPhone OS, but I think the iPunchclock bundle - the app file - contains the data files also, so if the backup file doesn't have the old app, chances are the data isn't inside the file at all. I think there are ways to view the backed up app bundles and their contents on the iTunes computer, but I don't have any detailed instructions. If you do find an old iPunchclock bundle, the documents are stored as .plist XML property lists, which an XML or text viewer read.
