Where are my images?

Postby SteveMuise on Tue Dec 02, 2008 11:36 pm

I took pictures of my receipts as I entered the expenses, and now I can't find the images I took. I looked in the obvious place in my Photos, I tried Importing my photos from my iPhone to my laptop and neither way did I find the images. I exported the Expense report to a Google Doc and the image doesn't show up there either. Where are they?

Images are stored right in the iPhone "Camera Roll". If you go to the Photos application, they should be the most recent pictures taken (unless you have taken other pictures since). If the picture is not there, it is conceivable that it didn't get taken. Maybe there is no more room.. can you take a normal picture? When you tapped the iSpend camera button, did you see the photo interface? A general cure for flaky iPhone behavior (IMHO, caused by memory fragmentation by apps), is to power down and restart it. Does this make a difference?

I restarted my phone and retook the images and they now seem to be appearing in the Camera Roll - I hope this doesn't happen often

You may be able to figure out which app is causing the memory problems. I found that Nanosaur would often get low memory warnings, and after playing for a while, sometimes other apps would be unable to launch, or would crash. Nanosaur itself would crash quickly if relaunched. I got in the habit of restarting my iPhone after using that app.

Hi there,

i have the photos on the phone, but how are these used to be part of the report?

I thought they would be linked to the output reports in some way?

can you help?

At present, the google apps API doesn't support embedded images in documents, nor are attachments to emails possible with the iphone mail app. In fact the best way to get images off the iPhone is through the photos app, where you can email or download them, and it seems the best way store images is also to use the standard camera roll, where other apps also have access to the images, in case you need to clean them up or whatever. In the end, the images are like backups of the actual receipts, and it seems people have many different ways of handling receipts and claiming reimbursement, so iSpend tries to be as flexible as possible in handling the images. We are looking into alternate ways export all the data for future versions, but so far, they all require even more web accounts, or custom apps installed on a mac/PC to partially duplicate iTunes syncing.
