Google error message - docs

Postby Dermot on Wed Dec 31, 2008 12:06 pm

Hi, I discovered a similar message to the one you recently posted re spreadsheets on my phone when I tried to export to Google docs, however when I visited Google Docs via my computer none of the files I had saved were there at all. At present I am not entering any more info until the matter is resolved as I have no way of retrieving the data from my phone.

My error message reads:

"Error Domain=com.google.GDataServiceDomain Code=503 UserInfo=0x2b4a00 "Operation could not be completed. (com.google.GDataServiceDomain error 503.)"

Any ideas?

I have just verified that indeed, the uploading now actually fails and returns the '503' message. This sucks. Google is aware of the issue (#929), but they have yet to offer any fixes or workarounds. In the meanwhile, emailing CSV data is the only option. We will keep on top of this and post any news. If there are changes to our apps necessary, we will get them out quickly, but it is most likely that the problem will be resolved by Google.

Happy New Year?

Thanks for replying but I'm still in limbo. I've tried contacting Google by email (3 times) but only get an automated reply. Furthermore I have to do a tax return imminently and I don't know if or when I'll be able to upload properly...

Here is Google's internal bug on the issue. It seems to be a bug with their server. I think enough people are screaming about it that they should have it fixed relatively quickly...

In a pinch, you can email yourself the data as CSV, then manually save it to a file and upload it to a google spreadsheet. As a result of this debacle, we are looking into developing a more robust, independent export solution.

It looks like they have!
Hooray!
We will still be adding an alternative method of getting data out...
